All About Acupuncture!

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles into specific locations in the body. This form of therapy can be beneficial as a stand alone treatment or to complement your chiropractic and soft tissue techniques.

What are the Benefits?

Acupuncture and other procedures such as electroacupuncture and electric stimulation is a safe and effective way to treat a variety of musculoskeletal complaints and reduce pain. The use of the needles can help reduce muscle tension, improve function, reduce inflammation, and improve blood flow in various locations of the body. This form of therapy is used daily in the clinic to assist with the treatment of headaches, athletic injuries, low back pain, neck pain, sprains & strains, scar tissue recovery, joint pain and other conditions.

What is Electroacupuncture?

After the acupuncture needles are inserted into their precise locations there is an option to stimulate the needles. For certain conditions, the needles can either be stimulated manually or with electricity for therapeutic purposes. During electric stimulation the needles can be hooked up to a unit similar to a TENS machine to apply an impulse to the muscle. This stimulation can be modulated depending on the purpose of the stimulation and patient preference. Stimulation can also be achieved through a hand-held unit focusing on one needle at a time until the desired results are achieved.
